my site building began on October 2002.
after surfing blogs and journals here and there, i envied them because these
people were able to create a site that was theirs. i wanted my own too, so i
decided to give it a shot. why not try making my own.
I began my site at
Bravenet, but it didn't really work out because I had this crappy layout that I couldn't even remember how it looked like. Then I went to
Geocities and took my
time using the page builder that caused me a lot of problems. It was
called Fantasy Realms and it changed to Blue Tease. When I wanted to post my
stories, one chapter couldn't even fit one page! i found loads of sites that
offered premade layouts, so that got me going. there were hundreds of Final Fantasy layouts, and i made it a point to use them. because of my obsession(?) back
then, i was also committed to create an FF site which had several midis. i
worked very hard by searching for all these midis, but then, it became so
tiring that i just gave up.
Geocities got me annoyed
since when i had to edit my blog, i still had to edit the html and upload the
page over again. it was very tiresome having to do it manually. i switched to
Diaryland because i thought
blogging and layout editing was easier there. at that point, i was very
engrossed with blogging. i thought of making a personal site rather than
making a fan site. i stuck to
Diaryland for a year or so until i learned about hosting. i heard about
the benefits you can get from being hosted, so i decided to find myself a
host.
i found Jacqui's site over the
internet, and i asked her if i could be hosted. that way, i'd be able to have
more space for my site. after being hosted, i attempted to make my own layout
rather than using premade ones. this was where my webdesigning began. i got hosted for a few months, but then i had to leave
since she was closing her site down for good.
Thinking I should get a new host,
Qing told me
she purchased a domain. Right then and there when I was still panicking about
my site falling apart, she offered to be my host. She's really grateful and
has done a lot for me already. After some time, her domain expired for good.
She helped me look for a new host. thanks to
Tootie for hosting me.
but then I thought it was time for a change, I guess? I thought of revamping my site and changing the name now that I'm older. Something that suits me more. So I asked a good friend of mine if I can be hosted by her. She was my co-hostee back when I still was under Jacqui. That's why I'm now hosted by
Nanci under my new site name,
Parachute Love.
at first, I was thinking of naming my site after Daft Punk's "Digital Love". Because thanks to
Miwa, it has become one of my favorite songs and I never get tired of it. Although I didn't want my site to be all around that song.
So I thought of altering it a bit. I came to the word "parachute". At first, I didn't have a meaning to it yet. But then, it suddenly clicked. Right now, it seems like I'm parachuting through the clouds wondering where I'm going to land. And of course, having mixed feelings about where I'm going. Life has you drifting throughout all sorts of agendas. You just have to know where to take yourself and love every minute of it.
that's Parachute Love for you.
